Could emotions lead to the downfall of humanity?
| If an artificial intelligence became smart enough to feel emotions, should it have the same right as humans? |
ChatGPT. Gemini. Copilot. We use these AIs daily, while millions of researchers around the world work to advance AI. At the same time, job options are decreasing and our planet is being strained, but are we making the right decisions? Are we blinded by the benefits of AI? Are we being naive towards the fact that artificial intelligence and robots can be the one to destroy us all if given emotions?
Emotions set us apart from robots and AI. We can feel things, but they cannot. They function the way they were programmed. Bots are made to help and please people. Robots are made to do what humans do. However, it is only a matter of time before they can feel emotions. In one way, this can seem good, but in another, it can seem bad. So what is right and what is wrong?
In my perspective, I think AIs shouldn't be given the same right as humans even if they could feel emotions for many reasons. Bots and robots would take over if they could think and feel by themselves. God gave humanity dominion over creation (Gen. 1:26). God didn't give humanity's creations dominion. Generations are becoming less intelligent because they rely on these bots to help them. AI is decreasing job options and straining Earth. Although they benefit us, if you think about the future, it could be emotion that leads to the downfall of humanity.
