Welcome, User!
I wrote this poem on September 5, 2010, at the age of fifteen—capturing the innocence and sweetness of youthful affection. It imagines a carefree moment on a playground, where the simple joys of holding hands, listening to a favorite song, and climbing trees are enough to feel completely happy. Though uncertain of whether this puppy love will grow into something deeper, in the moment, all that matters is being together and feeling that gentle, joyful connection.
We live in such a complicated land But I wish I were a simpleminded man Cause I'd just look into your eyes And I could hold your little hand As we walk around the playground in the sand.
Well I wish I had something clever to say to you But a happy boy has many words to choose So I'll just smile and walk along Listening to you hum that song From the sound of a guitar on the radio.
You won't have to say a word to me I'll sit in the grass and watch you climb a tree. Jump down fast in your barefoot feet, Look so cool like you're catching the breeze And you laugh All the way To me.
Well I know I'll see you tomorrow little girl. You walked away and each step bounced your curls. Whether it's love, I don't know Never can tell where it's gonna go But for now I just want you standing next to me.
